Working on becoming Carbon Neutral
We understand that skydiving and sustainability don’t sound very compatible at first as we wait for electric and hydrogen planes to develop, but it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try.
Since 2019, we’ve had the very ambitious goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2025, through donating trees, participating in beach clean ups, recycling, reusing and composting and switching our cars to electric. With the events of the last few years, we’re running a little late on our achieving our goal but we’re still working on it.
One of our main initiative has been donating to Trees That Count to plant native trees in key parts of our region. Through this charity, we’ve contributed over 400 trees to projects such as Let’s Make Kaiate Falls Swimmable Again, and Ohiwa Harbour.
In 2023, we took part in The Green Room | Te RΕ«ma KΔkΔriki, an initiative from Tourism Industry Aotearoa, to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to actively pursue zero carbon and regenerative goals which align with the New Zealand Tourism Sustainability. This helped us understand our supply chain and our wastes and enabled us to take action to make them more sustainable.
